Here's an innovative green museum program coming out of Chicago:
The Notebaert Nature Museum produces a weekly half-hour podcast called "The Little Green People Show: Sound advice on green living in the big city." In each episode, self-described "Eco Chicks" Laurene von Klan and Jill Riddell answer listener questions, offer expert advice, and deliver commentary on all the opportunities and challenges faced by the average urban dweller trying to go green. Topics range from the usual environmental issues like recycling and composting to some unusual themes like Gruzzwords and fashion. Along with the podcasts, the Little Green People Show's website offers a blog where writers begin conservations with readers about sustainable living. One regular writer, Green Mama (a.k.a. Manda Aufochs Gillespie), offers tips on green parenting. This green museum program is great because the Notebaert Nature Museum is reaching out beyond its walls via the Web to people who may never be museum visitors. Plus, it is using hip and trendy, yet familiar, technology, podcasts and blogs, to reach people.
